New York City Outdoor Restaurants in Midtown

June 29, 2009 · Filed Under Restaurant Reviews · Comment

As the warm weather approaches, you’ll want to be able to sit outside when dining out. New York City has a great selection of restaurants with outdoor seating. When in the Midtown area, there are plenty of options for dining outside in the sunny weather.

Here are my picks for restaurants in New York City’s Midtown with outdoor seating: Midtown East (East of Fifth Avenue)

* El Rio Grande is a moderately priced restaurant that is actually two restaurants in one location. This Tex-Mex and Mexican dual restaurant features nicely priced margaritas as well as an extensive menu of quesadillas, enchiladas, burritos and more. If you are a fan of spicy chicken wings, this is the place to go. They are super spicy here.
* Naples45 is conveniently located near Grand Central Station in the Met Life building. It is an Italian eatery with thin crust pizza, Neapolitan style. In addition to a large variety of pizzas, they feature appetizers to share as well as Italian pasta favorites. It is a somewhat pricey establishment.

How About Some Southern Fried Chicken?

June 26, 2009 · Filed Under Restaurant Reviews · Comment

Not really, as Southern Fried Chicken, as a brand is picking up fast popularity all across the country. I have seen their menus, and it must be said that they are lip-smacking items up on their menu list. Who wouldn’t want to give them a try? Even the die-hard KFC guys are seen moving into SFC (Southern Fried Chicken), to see what these guys offer.

So, what eventually do they offer?

For starters, items from the Southern Fried Chicken are a bit mellowed down in terms of the intake of calories and fats. Agreed they are fried in oil too, but some dishes are relatively natural and can thus be even consumed by people who are on a diet program.

Bacon baguette, for example, is a crunchy and a snappy breakfast item, which packages in about 800 calories, plenty of proteins and carbohydrates and only about 22 grams of fats. The Sausage and Mustard Baguette is another baguette dish that is low fat!

Lets Go to Cafe Merlot

June 25, 2009 · Filed Under Restaurant Reviews · Comment

Let’s start at the well known intersection of Pomerado road and Rancho Bernardo road. Head north on Pomerado until the next light and turn right. (This is one of those weird intersections where if you go left you have one street name and if you go right you get another.) Paseo Del Verano is to the right and Greens east road to the left.

As you travel up hill and dale on Paseo Del Verano for about 1 mile, you will start to see vineyards and more sprawling countryside. Oaks North Executive Golf course is on your left hand side. Just when you feel like you are entering into a different country, you see a sign on the right stating Rancho Bernardo Winery.

You turn right and enter a different time era. With old western wagons and windmills complete with rustic out shacks and authentic Mexican pottery outlet. You feel like you stepped back about 100 years into the old west. Time seems to slow down and relaxation is in the air. Here’s where you will find an ambitious restaurant named Cafe Merlot. You can find personal service with people who really care about your experience at the Winery.

Kentucky Fried Chicken Canada!

June 23, 2009 · Filed Under Restaurant Reviews · Comment

While the United States of America boasts of being home to the largest number of KFC outlets in the world, Canada does not seem to be too far away. Kentucky Fried Chicken Canada may yet not have a wide-spread distribution network, but in terms of the demography of the country, it does well to post some outlets in every next mile.

Whether in Canada, or United States of America – The taste and the flavor of KFC items just remain the same, attesting the promise of each outlet to make chicken foods just the way Colonel Sanders used to make it.

Chicken Nuggets, Fried Chicken with French fries and Golden chicken seem to be the favorite dishes in Kentucky Fried Chicken Canada. Each one of them is equally mouth-watering as the other, and will surely tempt you enough to drop by their outlet and give them a try.

Looking to Dine Out in Dubai? – Try These Restaurants

June 20, 2009 · Filed Under Restaurant Reviews · Comment

Majority of Dubai population is made up of foreigners, most of them expatriates and a considerably large number of tourists and foreign businessmen as well. A city that hosts so many foreigners must be having world class restaurants in abundance, for the convenience of people touring Dubai from different regions of the world. Generally, a restaurant is rated on the basis of price, quality of food, location, environment and hygiene. Some restaurants are preferred over others in accordance with the nature of dinner, which might be a business dinner, family banquet, friendly feast, or a dinner with your spouse. A restaurant that is ideal for business dinners may possibly be a bad choice for friend’s get together; similarly a great place to hang out with your buddies can not offer an exquisite candlelight dinner.

Following are some restaurants, which are worth visiting because of their food quality, setting or Menu.

Noble House:
The atmosphere and overall setting is marvelous, known for its Chinese cuisine, Noble House is located at Raffles, Dubai. A little bit on expensive side, therefore it may not be a good choice if you are a regular at dining out. Still, Noble House is a great place to go every once in a while.

Il Sogno – Where Dining is a Dream

May 16, 2009 · Filed Under Restaurant Reviews · Comment

Housed in a traditional 1910 brick building, with the requisite pressed tin ceilings and enormous windows, Calgary’s “Il Sogno” restaurant lives up to its name. In Italian, Il Sogno translates to the dream, and the incredible ambiance of the space along with the beautifully abundant menu makes it a fantastic experience. A good reader of the Italian language would be able to speak the names of the many fabulous dishes as if they were a form of fairy-story enchantment, but the great thing is that they are all real and one more tempting than the other.

Our party enjoyed the dinner menu, which is full of seasonal and local ingredients, all prepared to perfection. Consider the fabulous tang and beautiful balance of the Fairwind Farms goat cheese and roasted vegetable terrine, sundried olives and organic tomato salad easily enjoyed along with a half bottle of the 2005 Pinot Noir “Schug”.

Our main course was the Sturgeon Valley grilled pork loin chop, apple, butternut squash and pancetta ragu, vin cotto and port reduction, which was the perfect main course for a brisk March evening.
