Ice Cream Chefs: I Scream Homemade Ice Cream!
Singapore’s list of ice cream parlours is not too disappointing but if you have realized, there is none like Pop Tate’s Chocklit Shoppe in Bob Montana’s Archie comics…until Ice Cream Chefs (ICC) came along in mid-2007. Set up by co-founder Jeremy Wee, ICC allows you to savour innovative “100% homemade” ice-cream in the good company of fun and friends – the way Archie and friends always did at Pop Tate’s.
At this ice cream parlour, fun is a big factor despite its minuscule size: the cheerful greetings from the ” Ice Cream Chefs”, the enticing purple candy-coloured walls, and the large photo collage of customers’ snapshots that have been playfully doodled-on with funny captions.
Replicating the concept of Marble Slab Creamery’s and Cold Stone Creamery’s homemade ice cream, ICC scoops out innovative cold concoctions by “mashing” its “100% homemade” (mixed, made and froze in-house) ice cream and various “mix-ins” (a.k.a toppings) on a “Chef’s Rock” (a frozen granite slab). When it comes to the assortment of ice cream and mix-ins, though, ICC takes on the Willy Wonka’s school of thought. Here, the flavours of ice cream range from the usual suspects of Beanie Vanilla, Strawberries and Chocolates & Hersheys; to the sinful Nutella Delight and Nutty Peanut Butter; to the healthy Blueberries and Waterlemony, and even to the localized Durian, Milo Peng and Milk Tea! The mix-ins, too, goes the similar route with at least 30 kinds of toppings! What’s more, Tuesdays are free mix-ins days and you can have your first mix-in for free and subsequent mix-ins at the standard charge of $0.70.

The Six Major Kinds of Cookies
Cookies are generally easy to make and one of the first things a beginning baker makes. There are only six major types of cookies, each with their own particular methods. Below, I have listed all six types (plus a seventh) and some characteristics and tips to help you make each one.
Molded Cookies
Moulded cookies are made by hand-rolling the dough and forming them into balls. Like peanut butter cookies they can be pressed flat with a fork. To stop the dough from sticking make sure to dust your fingers and utensils with flour.
Dropped Cookies
Dropped cookies are usually the easiest kind of cookie to make. Drop a teaspoonful of cookie dough onto a cookie sheet. Make sure you leave sufficient room between cookies for spreading. A space of about a couple of inches is usually best. If uniform size is important you may wish to use a cookie scoop.
How to Make Homemade Brownies
Brownies are one of the most delicious and easiest desserts to make. They are even easier to make than cookies because you don’t have to roll them in balls and cook them in batches. Plus, they can taste fudgy and amazing if done right.
If you are thinking about making homemade brownies, you have basically two ways to go about it. You can either use a box, or you can make your own brownies from scratch. They each have their own benefits, but they will both produce delicious brownies.
To begin, you need to find a recipe. If you are using a box mix, just use the recipe on the back of the box. Otherwise, you can look through your cookbooks, recipe cards, or search online. Maybe you have a grandmother that made delicious brownies, you can get that recipe from her.
Easy to Make Dessert Recipe – Peach Pie Without the Guilt!
Pie is one of my favorite foods. Peach pie counts as a fruit serving right? While I still eat the traditional peach pie, ala mode, of course, I don’t want to eat it every day or every week. Here is an easy to make dessert recipe for peach pie that is just as flavorful without having the labor or guilt of eating high calories and fat that goes along with traditional peach pie. What’s also great about this recipe is that you can use a broiler or a grill, so you can make it all year long.
It involves the simplicity of fresh peaches combined with vanilla, brown sugar (or brown Sugar Twin) and Triple Sec liquor.
I’m basing this easy to make recipe on two servings. You can just increase the ingredients to fit. Ingredients: Large peaches, not overly ripe – about the size of a baseball. Each peach will represent two servings. Vanilla (half a capful per half peach), brown sugar or brown Sugar Twin (my husband really dislikes artificial sweeteners, but he can’t taste the difference with the Sugar Twin – I use the Sugar Twin), Triple Sec Liquor.
Need a Dessert for a Dinner Party? Try a Cheesecake
I always seem to have less time than I thought, so I usually start with ice cream. If you want it to look really nice, invest in a restaurant style scooper. There is no limit to the variety of different toppings that you can try. I’m a big fan of strawberries and pecans.
For a quick and easy dessert or “anytime-treat”, I put plain vanilla ice cream together with strawberry and banana slices in the blender. I leave it thick and we eat it with a spoon, but you can add a little milk and serve your own fresh milkshakes.
As far as convenience goes, we have much to choose from in the grocery stores, these days. I’m not a big fan of the mixes. The taste is not the best and they often don’t set. I love cheesecake, but that no-bake version that comes in a box is pretty “tasteless”. But, sometimes I do occasionally buy a ready-made crust and fill it with canned fruit fillings. To give apple pie a personal flair, I’ll slice green apples and arrange them on top. Of course, this has to be done right before serving or the slices will turn brown.
Why Cheesecakes Make the Perfect Gift
There are guidelines that should be followed when choosing the perfect gift
. For one thing, the gift should be chosen specifically for a certain individual whose tastes are known to you. If you are not well acquainted with the recipient, you must give a general-type of gift that will not offend. Another guideline for choosing the perfect gift is that the gift must fit, and most important, if the recipient doesn’t like the gift, it must be passed on to someone else.
Do you know anyone who doesn’t like cheesecake and wouldn’t consider it the perfect gift? For gift-giving occasions the ultimate gift is one that is adored and can be shared with others, and this makes cheesecake the perfect gift. Even if the recipient is on a low fat, no fat, no sugar or no carbs diet, cheesecake is the perfect gift because it can be made to adhere to almost any diet by carefully choosing the ingredients. In today’s society there is almost no limit to the availability and variety of ingredients that go into a cheesecake.
Giving a Cheesecake as a Gift?
When it comes to cheesecakes, they are often most commonly associated with desserts, not gifts. While you may not, personally, associate cheesecakes with birthday gifts, wedding presents, and such, cheesecakes as gifts are rapidly increasing in popularity. In fact, a large number of individuals are now giving cheesecakes as gifts, instead of traditional gift baskets. One of the many reasons for this is because of the formats. If you are relatively unfamiliar with cheesecakes, you may not necessarily know that cheesecakes come in a wide variety of different size, shapes, and styles. Just a few of the many cheesecake types that you can purchase are outlined below.
One of the most highly sought after and searched type of cheesecakes is a pumpkin cheesecake. While a large number of individuals prefer giving pumpkin cheesecakes as gifts around the holidays, pumpkin cheesecakes are ideal for just about any occasion, at anytime of the year. When it comes to pumpkin cheesecakes, you will find that they come in a number of different styles. It is not uncommon to find pumpkin cheesecakes are that referred to as pumpkin spice cheesecakes and pumpkins swirl cheesecakes. Each pumpkin cheesecake style combines the tasty flavor of pumpkin with the always tasty flavor of cheesecake.
A Return to More Simple Gifts for the Holidays
A Return to More Simple Gifts for the HolidaysBy Sandy PowersThese are difficult economic times without any sight of change in the foreseeable future. We will return to pleasures in our lives that are unconnected to money. While our holidays will still be filled with gift giving, many of the gifts will come from the kitchen instead of the shopping mall. Giving a gift from the kitchen during the holidays is thoughtful and personal. It is a gift that truly is from you. One of my recipes that my family and friends look forward to receiving is my Pineapple Fruitcake. No one throws this fruitcake away!Fruitcakes date back to Roman times when pomegranate seeds, pine nuts, and barley mush were mixed together to form a ring-shaped dessert. Roman soldiers packed fruitcake with them on their long marches because of the fruitcakes long shelf life. During the Middle Ages, cooks added honey, spices, and dried fruits to fruitcakes. Crusaders, like the early Roman soldiers, carried the fruitcake with them to sustain themselves for long periods on their marches to the Holy Land. An interesting historical twist to the lore of the fruitcake occurred in the early 18th Century when a few European countries outlawed the fruitcake because they were considered “sinfully rich.” Read more
Flavoring Your 10-inch Cheesecake Recipe
The 10-inch cheesecake recipe is the most common size found both in cookbooks and on recipe Web sites, and it’s a big canvas on which to write a flavor signature. While the base recipe is a marvel of creamy goodness, it’s natural to want to branch out and add your favorite flavor into the mix.
One of the most popular flavors to add is peanut butter, usually in combination with chocolate chips or a drizzle of chocolate sauce. However, if you are a true peanut butter devotee, you don’t need no stinkin’ chocolate in your peanut butter! In fact, why not go whole-hog with your effort and make it peanutty from top to bottom? Use crushed peanut butter cookies for the crust, peanut butter in the mix (and even some chopped peanuts if you like) and sprinkle chopped dry-roasted peanuts on top right before serving.
